staff give morning announcements virtuallyAs schools begin Distance Learning across Minnesota this week, Robbinsdale Area Schools is bringing familiarity to students during this unprecedented time. School staff have begun recording morning announcements and morning meetings. Students are able to tune in, see a friendly face and stay connected with their school community.

Recent morning announcements welcomed students back, publicized an upcoming spirit week, shared a reminder to model classroom expectations and recognized student birthdays. Some announcements finish with the pledge of allegiance and student peace pledge.

During morning meetings, teachers record a short video discussing what students will be working on each day, which is shared with students each morning via email or online learning platforms such as Seesaw. “We know that for young kids, routine is very comforting,” said Nancy Lehn, Intervention Teacher at Meadow Lake Elementary.

“We understand what a change this is for both our students and our families,” said Bridget Hall, Principal of Lakeview Elementary. “We are hoping a familiar face and routine will help to make this transition a little easier. This is a fun way for us to use technology to stay connected with our students,” she continued.
