Academic Support Services

Robbinsdale Area Schools offers a range of support programs to increase academic success.  Opportunities for individualized assistance are available before, during and after school hours as well as during the summer for those students who are at risk for limited success in school. Opportunities are available in Robbinsdale Area Schools or through parent choice options available through our partnership with Intermediate District 287. 


"A" School"

"A" School is an alternative high school program located within Armstrong High School.  It is a student choice program which helps students recover credits toward their goal of graduation.  The “A” School program is designed to help students who are experiencing difficulty with the traditional school model and would benefit from an alternative learning environment.




  • Eligibility:  All students who are experiencing difficulty with the traditional school model.
  • Program Features: A family-like environment, small class sizes, student/parent/teacher collaboration, required and elective courses offerings.
  • Program Information:  A three-semester program open to all incoming 10-12 graders. Students can earn credits in English, science, social studies, math, health and electives.
  • Admission:  Students can pick up an application at the “A” School office at AHS, have an interview, and if accepted, participate in a family intake conference.

Adult Academic Program ALC

Learners can earn high school credits through the Adult Academic Program (AAP). Students work with AAP teachers on curriculum designed to meet the needs of local high schools.  Students must provide an official high school transcript. Credits are available in all areas of basic skills.

Robbinsdale Academy (formerly Highview Alternative Program)


Robbinsdale Academy is an Area Learning Center for self-directed learning. It is a year-round program for students ages 16 through 21. It's designed for at-risk students to earn a high school diploma in a smaller, more personal setting. Attendance and performance determine progress. Students are assisted in meeting graduation requirements, improving academic and personal skills, and making career plans. Career and technical education, work experience, and college options programs are also available. Busing is available for students who live in the Robbinsdale School District. TASC - The Alternative Study Center
The Alternative Study Center - TASC - provides alternative educational opportunities to students in grades 6-12 who have been recommended for expulsion from school and therefore are at risk for academic failure.  TASC is a safe, nurturing environment that empowers, inspires, and motivates students to achieve academic, personal and social success.  The program allows students to earn middle school grades and high school credits in a computerized instructional format.  For more information, visit the link below.
