Robbinsdale Area Schools will host a series of upcoming meetings for parents with kindergartners entering the district next fall:

- FAIR School (magnet school) will host a kindergarten information night (for parents only) at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at FAIR School Crystal, 3915 Adair Ave. N., Crystal.

- School of Engineering and Arts (magnet school) will host a K-5 information night (for parents only) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at SEA, 1751 Kelly Drive, Golden Valley

- Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School (magnet school) will host a kindergarten information night (for parents only) at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at RSIS, 8808 Medicine Lake Road, New Hope

- Districtwide kindergarten information and registration nights will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at all neighborhood elementary schools (Forest, Lakeview, Meadow Lake, Neill, Noble, Northport, Sonnesyn and Zachary Lane elementary schools)

The 2017-18 school year will mark the fourth year of statewide all-day kindergarten. All-day K provides a strong and comprehensive early learning foundation for students, says Dr. Timothy Gadson, executive director of curriculum and schools.

“We are excited to welcome the graduating Class of 2030,” Gadson said. “We hope families will come and see how our strong program is preparing students to succeed throughout their K-12 experience.”

The lottery for the district’s magnet schools closes at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24. Families of incoming kindergartners will be able to access the magnet application online by going to magnetlottery.rdale.org. Paper copies of the magnet applications will also be available at all schools and at the Education Service Center, 4148 Winnetka Ave. N., New Hope. Incoming kindergarten students with siblings currently enrolled in School of Engineering and Arts (SEA), Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School (RSIS), and/or Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Resource (FAIR) School Crystal who meet the application deadline will automatically be enrolled through the sibling preference policy.  The sibling preference policy also applies to incoming 4th-grade students at FAIR School Crystal.  Sibling families are required to complete and submit an application by the application deadline.  If the school has more applicants than space available, new kindergarten students will be selected by lottery.

Minnesota law requires developmental screening for all children by the time they enter kindergarten. For Robbinsdale Area Schools, this free screening is done at New Hope Learning Center. If you have not completed this requirement, please call 763-504-4180 to make an appointment. The screening center is open from late-August to mid-June.
